Spring has sprung! And if you're looking for hearing aids or just browsing the latest tech, you might be aware that manufacturers are releasing their spring lineup at the AudiologyNOW! convention. In the next few weeks, PHB will go over a couple of the new releases and introduce you to some of the manufacturers. We'd like to start with a Florida based company called Audina.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1.1 billion young people worldwide are at risk of hearing loss due to unsafe exposure to damaging levels of sound. But there's good news in the fight against Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). A new research study suggests earplugs can be a real protection against these damaging noise levels.

The fight or flight response to stressors in the environment played an essential role in the survival of our species. It increased chemicals in the body that allowed for greater speed and strength. But that once necessary reaction to immediate stress is not as beneficial for a modern society that may produce stressors on a daily or hourly basis. This exposure to chronic stress can play a big part in the deterioration of the body. And, as it turns out, chronic stress can actually cause or worsen hearing loss and tinnitus.
