Signia--one of the world's top hearing aid manufacturers-- has just introduced Silk™ a new completely-in-the-canal (CIC) hearing aid that fits 80% of ear canals right out of the box. This new style means in order to wear these nearly invisible hearing aids you don't need to go through the extra step of having them measured for your specific ear canal. This immediate availability is sure to please hearing aid users who want discretion without the wait.
Typical CIC hearing aids are measured to fit your specific ear canal, but Signia's Silk has developed a ready to wear hearing aid that molds to the ear via a "soft flexible Click Sleeve." The Click Sleeve will be familiar to users of earbuds as it is similar in texture and design to that soft malleable silicone surrounding the earbuds speakers. This soft silcone is available in three sizes and two venting options, so users can choose which one feels most comfortable. Discretion and comfort seem to be big features of this new type of CIC. In the past, users have feared hearing aids within the ear canal wouldn't be comfortable.
In addition to comfort and ready-to-wear features, this hearing aid runs on Signia's advanced Primax™ platform and includes full wireless and device-to-device communication or binaural features. According to the manufacturer, "Its advanced SpeechMaster function continuously monitors what you are listening to. It focuses automatically on your conversation partner while simultaneously reducing unwanted voices and background noise."
Still not clear about how this hearing aid can work to fit your ear? The video below does a good job of explaining how the Silk's soft silcone Click Sleeve works.
